Shawn Bengtson has been serving as Executive Vice President & Chief Risk Officer since 2023. She was elected to the National Board of Directors of WoodmenLife in 2023 and is a member of the Fraternal Committee. Bengtson became a WoodmenLife member in 2001, joining Chapter 704 in Bellevue, NE, where she held various positions, including President and Vice President. She currently is Vice President of the NE/IA Jurisdiction.

Bengtson began her career with WoodmenLife as a Securities Analyst in 2001. She was promoted to Portfolio Manager in 2002; became Senior Portfolio Manager in 2007; Director, Portfolio Management in 2010; and Vice President, Investment in 2013.

Bengtson received her Associate of Science degree from York College. She went on to earn three degrees from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln – a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Statistics, a Master of Science in Actuarial Science and a doctorate in the Interdepartmental Area of Business, with focuses on Corporate Finance, Investments and Banking.

Bengtson serves on the Board of Directors for Food Bank for the Heartland.

She enjoys reading biographies and history, working in the yard and traveling to see family, friends and new places.
